  • Google's Lookout app is finally here

The Mountain View-based tech giant has made this Lookout app available for Pixel users (for the USA only) in the Google Play Store. The app helps the visually challenged people identify information about their surroundings. It's available on Pixel devices in the United States (and is only in English).

Since announcing the app past year, Google said it has been "testing and improving the quality" of the app's results.

As per a blog post by Google, Lookout uses artificial intelligence, like Google Lens, and lets users search and take action on objects around them by simply pointing the smartphone.

The app also reportedly assists users in situations such as learning about a new space for the first time, reading texts and documents, and completing daily chores such as cooking, cleaning, and shopping, Google said.

Lookout works by telling wearers - Google recommends that users either place their device in a shirt's front pocket or wear it around their necks via a lanyard - about "people, text, objects and much more as you move through a space".

Google noted, however, that Lookout is still a new technology and "will not always be 100 percent perfect". For now, you can download it on the Play Store, or manually grab it from APK Mirror if you don't live in the USA or don't have a Pixel and want to try it out. Currently, the app is available for download in Google Play Store but for Pixel device owners in the U.S. only. The app won't swarm the user with unnecessary info, though, but rather only tell them about the things it thinks are important.
