The council will be asked to allow Federation Internationale de Football Association and Qatar to jointly submit a proposal on using "one or more additional co-host countries" in the Persian Gulf before a final decision in June on enlarging the World Cup from 32 to 48 teams.

In 2017, the body decided that the 2026 World Cup will feature 48 teams when it is co-hosted by the US, Canada and Mexico.

"We came to conclusion, yes it's feasible to move from 32 to 48 teams at the World Cup provided certain conditions are met".

It will replace the current seven-team annual Club World Cup, which is now played in December, with an expanded quadrennial version in June-July 2021.

The ECA's letter was addressed to Uefa president Aleksander Ceferin, who has been asked to explain the position at the Fifa Council meeting, which is taking place in Miami.

The letter, viewed by the AP, was signed by top executives from 14 leading European clubs, including ECA head Andrea Agnelli of Juventus.

The signatories said they are "firmly against any approval of a revised Club World Cup at this point in time and confirm that no ECA clubs would take part to such a competition".

Such a temporary ban would not, for example, apply to pure research. "The issue of genetic correction is more complex", the added. Finally, society would need to add its stamp of approval, perhaps through a legislative process or a referendum.

Barcelona President Josep Bartomeu backs a revamp of the competition, just not until the entire calendar for club and national team matches is reconfigured for 2024 and beyond to cope.

Infantini said: 'Now the world will see a real Club World Cup where fans will see the best teams in the world compete to be crowned the real world champions.

The decision was confirmed at a meeting of Fifa's Council in Miami. "We have to take care about the way of training and the vacation they need to recover every season that they do".

It will run every four years and take place from June to July in the slot now used for the World Cup warm-up event, the Confederations Cup.

The women's under-17 World Cup has 16 nations and Das had said that they can host matches at "just four cities". Oceania would get one representative. The confederations would decide their own qualification process. In the 2021 pilot edition, the 24 teams will be split into eight groups of three teams each, with the group winners to qualify for the quarter-finals in a knockout format. Teams would play two to five matches over a maximum of 18 days. We are working very closely with Qatar to see what proposals can be made.

Video review has been approved for the Women's World Cup, which runs from June 7 to July 7. Video assistant referees likely will include men helping advise all-female teams of referees and assistants.

No senior women's domestic or worldwide competitions use VAR.
