Oculus Accidentally Hid Creepy Messages In Thousands Of VR Controllers

Well, Nate Mitchell who is the co-founder of now Facebook-owned Oculus, posted a tweet starting about the easter egg labels that were inscribed on Oculus Rift Touch controllers were shipped accidentally. Other devices apparently shipped with "Big Brother Is Watching", but according to Mitchell only developer kits have that joke inscribed in them.

Oculus also recently announced its next-gen VR headset called the Oculus Rift S.

"Unfortunately, some "easter egg" labels meant for prototypes accidentally made it onto the internal hardware for tens of thousands of Touch controllers", Mitchell said.

According to the series of tweets posted on Twitter, Nate explained how these creepy easter eggs message labels meant for internal prototype use actually found its way towards tens of thousands of Oculus Touch controllers that were shipped although now haven't sold yet.

"While I appreciate easter eggs, these were inappropriate and should have been removed", he added.

Sudan Frets Over Whether Sudan Coup Could Derail Fragile Peace Deal
He has entrusted much to us, and for this reason will require from us much more! "But in front of the people, hold hands united". Pope Francis has kissed the feet of South Sudan's previously warring leaders during a two-day spiritual retreat at the Vatican.

Mitchell confirmed that while these labels were included, the "integrity and functionality of the hardware were not compromised, and [they] fixed [the] process so this won't happen again".

Facebook shipped tens of thousands of controllers for its new Oculus headsets with "inappropriate easter eggs" making light of the company's privacy disasters. By the time Oculus discovered the messages, it was too late, as they had already been printed into consumer hardware meant for the market.

While there should have been no internal messages of any kind in any of the devices, a Facebook representative told Business Insider that the company would not recall them.

The messages are printed on the "flex", Peace said, "an internal flexible component of the Touch controllers". If you have one of the newer editions of the Oculus Touch, it might be worth checking to see if there is a message waiting for you.

It's likely that the "Big Brother" message was most alarming for Facebook, as the social media company has been under heavy scrutiny lately for its practices of collecting personal data, not to mention its many privacy failures.
