Duke Basketball: Zion Williamson officially declares for the NBA Draft

17 April, 2019, 11:38 | Author: Heidi Alvarez
  • Zion Williamson Duke

The Duke freshman phenom, whose freakish athleticism, scintillating dunks and venerable personality starred the center of the college basketball season, announced on Instagram his decision to enter the NBA draft, becoming the last of the Blue Devils Big Three to publicize his intentions.

Williamson was named the Oscar Robertson Player of the Year as well, joining Anthony Davis and Kevin Durant as the only freshman to win the award.

Williamson spent his freshman season at Duke, where he dominated the competition with 22.6 points, 8.9 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 2.1 steals and 1.8 blocks per game on 68.0 percent shooting from the field and 33.8 percent from 3-point range. But Zion played coy in interviews in the weeks that followed.

Williamson is highly thought of in NBA Draft circles, seen as one of the best prospects the process has seen in the last 25 years.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Is Quitting Facebook
I think it has effects on everybody: "Increased isolation, depression, anxiety, addiction, escapism", she added. The Jewish Democratic Council of America (JDCA) on Monday strongly criticized Ocasio-Cortez for her comments.

His teammates, RJ Barrett and Cam Reddish, both declared for the NBA Draft earlier this month.

With Williamson officially declaring, Duke will have to prove it can repeat this season's success with a vastly different cast of characters next season.

It's something that many fans, analysts, and even former Duke players have called for, but under the rules Duke sets for retiring numbers, Williamson passes all the criteria except staying for four years and graduating.
