What's amusing about Google's announcement is that it's written in such a way as to impress both advertisers and consumers, but we know anyone who isn't already a fan of ads isn't going to be very fond of these new ad placements.

Now the company has officially announced the merging of Shopping Search and Express into the new Google Shopping.

Google is ready to change that. It will also rebrand its Google Express store to tie-in to the new Google Shopping experience.

Google has been testing ads on Discover since last fall, when it said more than 800 million people were using the feature monthly. Representing a shot across the bow of Amazon, Google demonstrated how customers who store their credit card information with the company will be able to buy, say, a power drill from Home Depot without ever leaving the search page. The ads will be made more accessible for the audience so that they may find more information about the product easily.

Google first launched a more robust shopping page in India previous year.

That's not all. In a separate development, Google also said it's combining all its travel-related offerings - the mobile Google Trips app, Google hotels search and Google Flights - under one hood called Trips.

Google, which gets about 85% of its revenue from ads, said recently that ad sales growth actually slowed down in the first quarter, which hurt its stock price in the short term.

It appears that ads for Google Images and Discover are already rolling out, but the new ads in YouTube are "coming soon".

The Mountain View, California, company said for its new shopping option it will share the purchaser's name and address with retailers so that they can keep track of who's buying what and when. In this Shopping tab, they can filter products based on features, brands, read reviews and even watch videos about the products.

The company announced the these plans at a Marketing event in San Francisco Tuesday, where it also launched shoppable ads for a number of other services, including Discover, the curated newsfeed previously known as Google Now.
