  • HP unveils dual-screen gaming laptop - HP Inc. (NYSE:HPQ)

HP turned that whole concept on its head today by introducing the Omen X 2S, a new gaming laptop with dual displays as its primary selling point. According to HP, you see, 82% of people use their phones for messaging while playing games these days, while 49% use them to watch livestreams, videos and surf the web.

U.S. pricing is still to be confirmed, but given current exchange rates, you're looking at $3000+ at the very least for the Core i7 Omen X 2S, and over $4000 for the Core i9 version.

And the specs are solid: configurations can go up to an i9-9880H octa-core CPU, an RTX 2070 or 2080 Max-Q GPU, a 1080p 144Hz screen with a 240Hz model available from July, G-SYNC variants, storage that ranges from a 512GB SSD with 32GB Optane memory up to RAID 0 1TB NVMe setups (!), and a max of 64GB DDR-3200MHz RAM in a 2.35kg unit. I'll have to wait until review samples are available to see whether it's as gimmicky as it sounds, of course, but I think you'll agree that's pretty steep regardless of which side of the pond you're on.

That second screen has more uses besides merely showing the applications you use while you play games.

At this point, gaming laptops are mostly a known quantity.

Muslims make up around 10 percent of Buddhist-majority Sri Lanka's population and Christians about 7.6 percent. Police spokesman Ruwan Gunasekera rejected allegations that police had stood by while the violence unfolded.

And if mirroring just one tiny part of the screen, or using it as a macro pad doesn't appeal to you, HP claims you can also use it as a full second (albeit tiny) screen, tossing videos onto it, or even just display a Discord or Slack channel.

The HP Omen X 2S is expected to start shipping internationally in late May and should be in USA stores by June.

The second screen is powered by HP's own software, using a mix of the Omen Command Center UI and HP Mobile View, two software suites now available for HP laptops-with the former intended for gaming computers specifically.

With the Omen X 2S, the 1080p secondary screen can be used to run a variety of apps, watch YouTube, show system stats, view a Twitch stream, act as a second browser, double as a keypad, and more.

All three laptops will also be arriving in the United Kingdom sometime this July, with prices starting at £900 for the Pavilion, and £1350 for the two Omens. We'll keep you updated once we hear more information regarding its release status in Malaysia from HP.
