The explanation came Monday as Rodney Puckett of Oklahoma was pulled over for a traffic violation along Interstate 10 in Arizona, reports the Arizona Republic.

He was arrested in Arizona during a traffic stop after a police officer noticed a deceased woman sitting in the passenger seat.

Puckett, according to Eloy Police officials, told detectives that Linda died at a Texas hotel and that Puckett moved her body into the auto, and continued towards their destination. He moved her to the auto so he could continue on the road trip with her. The EPD said it is working with law enforcement in Texas to see if her death is the result of a homicide.

Puckett was arrested on suspicion of abandonment or concealment of a dead body, and it's not known whether he has an attorney who could comment on his behalf.

"The investigation is in the early states and we will be releasing more information as it becomes available", said the police statement.

Rodney and Linda had been married since 2011 and were in the middle of a divorce. Linda was issued a protective order from her husband on February 6 and it was continued Monday, records show. It's unclear why Rodney Puckett moved the body, she said.

In another connection, Rodney was reported missing in April, but the Silver Alert for him was canceled once it was found he had not been heard from because he was in a Kansas jail.

The Sand Springs Police Department said Rodney and Linda were estranged when the Silver Alert was issued.

The cause of death hasn't been determined. Police say additional charges could be filed at a later date.
