  • A ton of Call of Duty: Mobile details just dropped

The description on Google Play reads thus: "Call of Duty®: Mobile is now in early Alpha in select countries, and we are working to improve the game experience by continuously fixing bugs and adding additional content for players".

Call of Duty: Mobile will be releasing on both Android and iOS later this year though there is no release date scheduled for the time being. Activision is teaming up with Chinese conglomerate Tencent to deliver the game. For those that are interested in the game can pre-register for it right now on either the website or on the Google Play Store where it has been listed already.

These are only the first multiplayer modes announced, so there's still hope for fans of PC version-inspired modes like "Kill Confirmed" and "Search and Destroy". While Nuketown, Crash, and Hijacked had already been announced, Activision has now revealed that Call of Duty Mobile players will also get access to other classic maps like Crossfire, Standoff, Crash, and Killhouse among others. Free-For-All is an eight player mode while the rest of the modes support 10 players. Activision has confirmed that access to the game will be rolled out only in batches for now. Activision didn't say if it will release additional maps in future updates.

As for as characters go, players will get to choose between characters from multiple games in the Call of Duty franchise such as Alex Mason, Thomas Merrick, and Simon "Ghost" Riley. The company plans to talk about additional modes sometime in the near future. In that blog post linked above, Activision dives into things like main menu functionality and what players will be able to change through the settings menu.

Players can also pick between simple and advanced modes. While simple mode enables auto-firing at enemies when the cross-hair is focused on them, advanced mode, meanwhile, allows for manual firing, choosing how you hold different weapon types, and customizing your HUD - similar to PUBG Mobile but far more granular.

Lastly, players can pick from six confirmed characters from the Call of Duty series.

Shifting to loadouts, you can pick a primary and secondary weapon. You'll also find the usual characters, weapons, outfits, score streaks, and gear to unlock.
