Nixon counsel John Dean will testify Trump's actions are 'strikingly like Watergate'

House Judiciary Chairman Jerry Nadler said Monday he has struck a deal with the Justice Department to begin providing Congress with some documents from the Mueller Report related to obstruction of justice.
As lawmakers continue to discuss possible impeachment proceedings against Trump, the Justice Department relented after almost two months of stonewalling and said it will provide evidence related to Trump's possible obstruction of Mueller's probe, said committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler. "Given our conversations with the Department, I will hold the criminal contempt process in abeyance for now", Nadler said.
House Democratic leaders had scheduled a floor vote for Tuesday on a resolution authorizing Nadler's committee to enforce its subpoenas against Barr and former White House counsel Don McGahn in federal court.
Nadler said a lawsuit may yet be necessary. Trump has vowed to fight congressional subpoenas.
Released in mid-April, Mueller's report found Russia meddled in the 2016 USA presidential election and that Trump's election campaign had multiple contacts with Russian officials. While Dean pointed out that the Mueller report found no conspiracy that Trump engaged in the conspiracy with the Russians, he also said he doesn't believe Nixon himself was involved in the actual break-in and bugging during Watergate. Barr has said he is required by law not to release evidence obtained from grand jury proceedings but Democrats have argued that he can ask a judge to make those materials public.
"The Mueller Report was a disaster for them", Trump wrote.
Representative Doug Collins, the top Republican on the House Judiciary Committee, said the agreement indicates the Trump administration is not stonewalling Congress.
Monday's hearing, convened by House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler, D-N.Y., is billed as: "Lessons from the Mueller Report: Presidential Obstruction and Other Crimes".
