  • Tommy Robinson arrives at court

At least four people were arrested in relation to the demonstration as angry protesters tore down European Union flags as they continued their march.

Following his sentencing, Robinson's supporters marched on Parliament and according to PA verbally abused and physically intimidated journalists filming on College Green. "One woman aged 61 was arrested for a public order offence".

Judges last week convicted Robinson, whose real name is Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, for broadcasting footage outside of a courthouse in Leeds in May 2018.

"Posting material online that breaches reporting restrictions or risks prejudicing legal proceedings is a very serious matter and this is reflected in the court's decision today", Cox said in a statement on Friday, when Robinson was found guilty.

The impact the live streaming nearly allowed the groomers to walk free from conviction at Leeds Crown Court, It had such a serious impact on proceedings that the legal proceedings were nearly dropped.

In her ruling, judge Victoria Sharp said that in his video Yaxley-Lennon, who argued he is highlighting cases ignored by mainstream media, "approves and encourages vigilante action" and his viewers would have understood it as "an incitement to engage in harassment of the defendants".

The retrial, held today, once again found him guilty and Robinson has been taken into custody.

Allardyce reveals he turned down Newcastle job offer
The 58-year-old is keen on managing in the Premier League again and wants to hear what Newcastle have to offer to him. Benitez departed after his contract expired, saying the Premier League club " did not share his vision ".

His Telegram account said: "Sentenced to prison for journalism. Time for protests to start, this is an absolute joke!"

The office said Robinson was sentenced to six months in prison for that incident and a further three months for a previous contempt.

That means he has effectively been jailed for 19 weeks and will serve half of that sentence.

A reporting restriction was put in place to postpone the publication of any details of the case until the end of a series of linked trials involving 29 defendants to ensure all defendants received a fair trial.

He was jailed for 13 months after being found in contempt of court on the day of the broadcast and served two months in jail but was freed after the original finding of contempt was overturned by the Court of Appeal in August 2018.

Attorney-General Geoffrey Cox was given leave to relitigate the case, however, which he chose to do - resulting in Robinson being reconvicted, despite his defence team's arguments that his behaviour was "not materially different to the behaviour we see outside courts day in and day" from mainstream media reporters.
