Dak Prescott reportedly seeking $40 million per year

We thought the Dallas Cowboys' looming contract extension puzzle was tricky before Monday's report from Jane Slater of NFL Media that QB Dak Prescott turned down an offer including $30 million annually as he seeks to be the NFL's first $40 million-per-year signal caller.

Similar to Goff, Prescott most likely feels confident enough in the Cowboys paying him at some point since it's tough to imagine where Dallas would have been without him over the last three years.

In reality, his best bet is probably for an agreement somewhere in the middle of the reported $30 million and his $40 million asking price.

ProFootballTalk's Mike Florio, however, reported that this was false by any standard. He is now under a contract that is set to only pay him $2.025 million in base salary this season, which is WAY below league average. Wentz recently signed an extension - ahead of his team-option season - that includes an average of $32 million and a promise north of $66.4 million, ranked fifth and fourth among all National Football League passers, respectively.

Not a fair price for our guns: NZ firearm owners
New Zealand issued an nearly virtual ban on semi-automatic weapons after the Christchurch mosques shootings. The gun reforms since the Christchurch massacre have come with some pushback.

One probably can't blame the 26-year-old for wanting more money due to the contracts Seattle Seahawks' Russell Wilson (four-year, $140 million) and Philadelphia Eagles' Carson Wentz (four-year, $128 million) received in the offseason. It gave him a new-money average of $35 million per year.

The Cowboys are straddled with the likelihood that they might have to overpay a quarterback who will never be at that level.

Prescott is 32-16 as a starter in the regular season, with 10,876 passing yards, 67 touchdowns, 25 interceptions and a 96.0 passer rating, so he is vastly underpaid as it stands now.
